The PSA Weekly Research Round up for the week to 22 Mar 2024

Weekly Comment Summary
The Bank of Japan didn’t need to raise rates when it did, and it may be a mistake that it raised rates when it did. But you can’t have negative interest rates forever. It took great courage to end NIRP / ZIRP in Japan, and the immediate response has been positive. Whatever happens next, that response still constitutes a big win for Ueda, and also a big win for the economics profession.
