Debt Markets Today - August 28, 2019

CIS EUROBOND MARKETRussian sovereign Eurobond quotes stayed flat for most of the session, but a sharp decline in US Treasury yields in the evening sparked a rise in prices. The Russia 43 and 42 fared the best (both +0.6 pp). Turnover remained below average, with demand mostly coming from nonresidents. GOVERNMENT DEBTActivity in the OFZ market was thin for most of the day yesterday, with sporadic bouts of selling by nonresidents. However, trading picked up significantly right before the close, with the action taking place in the belly of the curve. Volumes surged from R10 bln to R50 bln. However, when the dust settled yields were little changed (they did end up moving 1-2 bps higher on long-dated paper).
