Debt Markets Today - August 31, 2018

CIS EUROBOND MARKETTrading activity was low again in the Russian sovereign Eurobond segment. Only the Russia 28 posted a significant change in price, adding 0.8 pp to close at 161.2% (YTM 4.8%, Z-spread 192 bps). GOVERNMENT DEBTTrading activity in the OFZ market was extremely weak in the first half of yesterday's trading session, with yields holding in place. In the second half, locals were selling issues maturing in 6y and longer and activity picked up. At the end of the day, yields were up 5-10 bps. Volumes totaled R22 bln, with almost R6 bln in the 9y OFZ 26212.

Russia FX/Rates Snapshot - March 24, 2022. Ruble Could Take a Pause After Sharp Gains

This morning, the ruble has weakened somewhat offshore, sliding to USD/RUB 98, whereas on the Moscow Exchange it is trading at 95.5. In focus today will be EU and NATO summits at which comments about Russia's plan to switch to ruble settlement for gas could be forthcoming. It is possible that the rhetoric toward Russia will become harsher. Against this backdrop, we think the ruble's advance will take a pause and that it will remain around 96.
