Kazakhstan Fixed Income - Clearstream to Open a New Door
Kazakhstan is opening up its local public debt market to international investors, as Clearstream will start settling government bonds and National Bank notes in July. However, local market constraints mean that international investors are likely to focus on NBK notes rather than government bonds, in our view. Overall, we think that foreign ownership of NBK notes could rise from the current 8.4% ($1.1 bln) to 15% by year end.
