Debt Markets Today - December 20, 2021. Russian Security Proposals, CBR Decision Review, Lukoil Comments on New Strategy, Belarus Inflation
CIS EUROBOND MARKETActivity has remained sluggish in the Russian sovereign Eurobond segment. On Friday, only the Russia 29, 35, 43 and 47 saw paper trading hands - those bonds closed 0.2-0.5 pp lower on the day. However, the recent local demand for euro-denominated paper remains in place. GOVERNMENT DEBTAs expected, the CBR raised the key rate by 100 bps and maintained its hawkish rhetoric on Friday (more below). OFZ yields finished the day 5-10 bps lower, with long-dated issues outperforming shorter papers. The market seems to have focused on the CBR's language in the statement suggesting that the likelihood of several additional rate hikes had decreased since the October meeting.
