MSCI Russia - Consultation on Unequal Voting Rights
MSCI today announced a revised consultation period with clients on how companies that have share classes of unequal voting power should be treated. Today's proposal would in the large majority of cases amount to companies with unequal voting power among their share classes receiving lower weights in the MSCI indexes. Though the proposal is fairly arcane and the time frame is long (likely three years before full implementation, if passed), its being passed could have implications for Russian stocks.
