Russia FX/Rates Snapshot - August 17, 2020

The US-China talks failed to materialize, however, being delayed indefinitely, while US President Trump formally ordered ByteDance to divest of its US operations for TikTok. Nevertheless, markets seem to have shrugged off these developments, with Asian stock indexes up, oil climbing and EM currencies strengthening today. The ruble is an exception, having slipped slightly this morning.
