Russia FX/Rates Snapshot - January 10, 2019
Today, investors will eye the minutes from the ECB's December meeting, which could shed light on the prospects for a rate hike this year. This has become rather uncertain given the recent weak economic data from Germany. Also, investors will tune in to Fed Chairman Powell, who speaks to the Economic Club of Washington at 20:00 Moscow time. He may offer more details on the Fed's recent turn toward a more dovish stance. Still, we doubt that the risk-on rally will continue unless Powell comes off as very dovish, so the dollar will likely stay flat today.
