The ruble has managed to rebound this morning, showing its resilience and potential for gains. Nevertheless, the backdrop today looks negative. Second-quarter earnings season kicks off in the US, with JPMorgan, Citigroup and Wells Fargo due to report. Because of the continuing economic downturn and second wave of coronavirus in the US (and also given that banks' performance to a high degree depends on the state of the economy), the earnings are expected to be less than optimistic.
