Russia FX/Rates Snapshot - July 16, 2020
Today, the key event on the agenda will be the ECB meeting, although no major policy moves are expected. Europe's central bank will likely express a moderately optimistic view of the European economy in light of what has so far been a relatively quick recovery. Such rhetoric would buoy investors. However, the US initial jobless claims due today could be a negative event. The second wave of the virus in the US may cause this indicator to come in worse than expected. All things considered, we expect the ruble to likely continue fluctuating at around USD/RUB 71.
