The focus will be a speech by ECB President Christine Lagarde, who might offer comments on the recent considerable rise in eurozone sovereign bond yields - a key driver of the recent strengthening of the euro. For the ruble, the backdrop is still favorable and we think the local currency should gain a foothold around 73.5. In the geopolitical arena, the focus will now turn to a meeting between national security advisors Nikolai Patrushev and Jake Sullivan, which should take place in the coming weeks (eyes will continue to be on potential confirmation of a Putin-Biden meeting).
