It appears that the risk rally spurred by the news about the vaccine has run its course, while risk appetite is being dampened by the fact that the situation with the virus remains difficult in both the US and Europe. Given this, for risk assets (including the ruble) to post gains a new trigger is needed, but there isn't one in view right now.
