Russia FX/Rates Snapshot - November 29, 2021. Ruble Recovering on Hopes Omicron Variant Weak
This morning, the ruble has recovered by 1% to 74.9 on reports that South African medical officials are saying that they are not seeing an uptick in severe cases or hospitalizations due to the new strain. This has buoyed optimism in markets today. It appears likely that Friday's selloff will be pared back today, particularly if more evidence emerges indicating that the new strain is weak.
