Weekly Fund Flows - Active Funds Leading Passive YTD
EM funds saw reduced but continued net inflow in the week to March 28, according to EPFR Global data. Some $480 mln (0.04% of sampled AUM) came into EMs as a whole, versus inflow of nearly $2.0 bln the week prior. Russia saw $73.9 mln (0.12%) depart, versus the previous week’s $59.9 mln inflow. Year-to-date, active money has pumped $1.04 bln into Russia, while passive money has added $0.95 bln. Active inflow exceeding passive inflow is rather unusual – this has not happened for a sustained period since 2009, and has happened for only brief periods six times since then, as shown in the chart below.
