Int'l Insights: Bullish Stocks

Bullish Technicals + EPS Estimate Momentum

Today's report is a bottom-up compilation of technically attractive EAFE stocks, with one fundamental kicker: each name is accompanied by positive momentum in their FY EPS estimates.

This is accomplished by filtering for stocks whose latest EPS estimate is higher than last week's, which in turn is greater than the prior month's estimate. From this list, which is rich in relative leadership, we picked out names that are either (1) breaking out from, or (2) pulling back to base support levels... see pages 2-7

Notable themes:

• Metals & miners. One of our favorite themes, mining stocks are well-represented in this week's screen. And long-term trends in underlying industrial metals support this theme, with copper breaking out from a multi-year bottom earlier this year. Add exposure to names like Rio Tinto (RIO-GB), Aperam (APAM-NL), and Evraz (EVR-GB).

• Energy. EPS estimates are creeping higher in select energy stocks, a global sector that is bullishly inflecting. Actionable names: Royal Dutch Shell (RDSB-GB), Statoil (STO-NO), and Subsea 7 (SUBC-NO).

• No autos? No auto manufacturers passed the screen. This is curious, as technicals within this industry, ranging from GM and Toyota (TM) to Daimler (DAI-DE) and Peugeot (UG-FR), are strengthening. Add exposure.
