Upgrading Equal-Weighted Energy to Market Weight

Since late May (5/30/23 ETF Pathfinder) we discussed that there has been little reason to be bearish as long as the S&P 500 was above 4050. Then, in our previous ETF Pathfinder (7/3/23), we discussed how it is increasingly likely that 4300-4325 will act as major support moving forward, and that we are bullish as long as the S&P 500 is above 4300. Moving forward, the S&P 500 is likely to find support at its 50-day MA. The Dow and equal-weighted S&P 500 (RSP) also broke above resistance at 34,280 and $153, respectively.

Upgrading Energy to Market Weight. We are upgrading equal-weighted Energy (RSPG) following multi-month price and RS downtrend reversals -- add exposure. The Bloomberg Commodity index (DJP) and crude oil display bullish 1-year downtrend reversals -- buy... see page 6.

Vermilion Compass: Weekly Equity Strategy

20-Day MA Supports Holding on SPX, QQQ, IWM The S&P 500 (SPX), Nasdaq 100 (QQQ), and Russell 2000 (IWM) each continue to hold above short-term support at their respective 20-day MAs (currently 5966 on SPX, $526.50 on QQQ, and $208.75 on IWM) -- and have not closed below their 20-day MAs for two months.
