6PM Call: ROS-Index Returns After Daybreak - Update on Thalexim
As October ended, the market has seen most of the business results. The VNIndex increased by 0.65%, but it is still mostly thanks to ROS. Decliners still overwhelmed gainers (108 vs 159), though not as much as it used to be a couple of days ago. Speculative stocks such as HAI, HAR, AMD, HQC, and QCG continued their streak to hit the floor.
The oil price has rallied continuously for the past four months, which seemed to be the reason for today’s rise of oil & gas stocks. However, as mentioned several times, the short-term fluctuation of the oil prices does not necessarily mean that the business activities of companies like PVD and PVS could improve soon. For example, after changing the depreciation method in the previous years, PVD has used its last resort this quarter: reimburse its technology-science development fund so that it could report a mere NPAT of VND25B.
