The US led housing crisis was almost 15 years ago. To be honest this writer had seen this coming. The real estate meltdown. I was once asked in early 2007 by a friend if he could buy a house in San Francisco worth $500,000 with a down payment of $50,000 and borrow the reminder thru two banks. I told him no but he did it. This was just the beginning of non rational behavior by banks and mortgage brokers that eventually led to the Great Financial Crisis of 2008-09.
