Decree 116 has become a frequent topic in the first eight months of 2018. This regulation supported local manufacturers, partly resulting in a reduction in car imports. Figures from the General Department of Customs show that the number of cars imported into Vietnam in the first eight months of 2018 reached 28 thousand units (-44% YoY), corresponding to USD 640 million (-92% YoY).
