WOOD Flash – Romania macro/politics: Frontier Investor Days conference takeaways
During our 7th annual Frontier Investor Days conference in Bucharest, held over 4-6 September, our recently published views (4 September 2019) on the country were largely confirmed, with politics and macro being at the forefront. The feeling on the ground is that, despite the political “crisis†the country is going through, marked by a noisy environment with daily developments, if we look beyond the smoke, the political direction is generally positive. While the three elections ahead of us will not help to minimise the noise in any way, and will make large political decisions (privatisations, offshore law, etc.) difficult, everyone is looking at the cues for who will be in power in 2021E and what their agenda will be.
