WOOD Flash - Petkim: highlights from our site visit
We visited Petkim’s headquarters on Thursday 9 August, for a tour of the production facilities, and to meet management and get their thoughts on the 2Q18 and company strategy. Management laid out a number of programmes that it believes are having a significant impact on Petkim’s performance and have generated USD 23.5m at the operating level so far in 2018. We had the chance to tour the almost-complete STAR refinery, as well as the petrochemical production areas and wind power plant.Our conclusion is that Petkim is a company on the cusp of a big positive change, through improvements in management and the benefits of the STAR refinery. Management shared with us its recent successes and the programmes that it believes should significantly improve profitability.
