WOOD Flash – Yandex: 4Q19 results – continued strong performance from core business
Yandex has reported strong 4Q19 results, even though its headline EBITDA and net income missed both our and the consensus estimates. We note that the core segments performed in line or better than our expectations, with a strong operational delivery across the main segments. The main weakness came from higher losses in the Other Bets and Experiments segment, which were related primarily to more investments in the car-sharing service.Yandex is an internet and technology company that operates an internet search engine in Russia. Co. builds intelligent products and services powered by machine learning. Co.'s products and services are based on complex, unique technologies that are not easily replicated. Co. generates substantially all of its revenues from online advertising. Co. also generates revenues from its e-commerce offerings, classifieds and e-hailing service.
