WOOD Flash – Yandex: 4Q19E preview – temporary slowdown does not change the big picture (due on 14 February)

We expect Yandex to report decelerating top-line growth for 4Q19E, and contracting margins in its core Search and Portal segment (the results are due on 14 February). This is likely to be caused by the high base effect (revenue increased 39% yoy in 4Q18), as well as a temporary boost in investments into content and the promotion of its mini smart speakers sales, which were launched in the past quarter. Given the temporary nature of these factors, as well as the strong dynamics in all the other segments, which are approaching the inflection point (particularly Taxi), we see little impact on our investment thesis and price target from the optically weaker results.
