XR and robotic vision were the focal points of discussion during the investor day meeting, as both the company and investors expect enormous opportunities in the long run, although growth may take a few more years to pick up. The vehicle business, on the other hand, may start driving immediate growth thanks to the ongoing ADAS proliferation trend. Smartphones shipment remains sluggish, but growth is intact on the back of specs upgrades. Maintain BUY and keep target price at HK$100.00.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS Sector Insurance China regulators have introduced several measures, allowing insurers to further raise their equity investment allocations. We estimate that insurers could reallocate Rmb900b to equities, supported by these regulatory tailwinds. However, insurers are likely to remain cautious due to earnings volatility and solvency headwinds from a declining long-term yield. Maintain MARKET WEIGHT. Top picks: Prudential and PICC P&C. We hosted an NDR with Sunny Optical in Taiwan last week. Questions were mostly related to impacts from the trade war, the vehicle business, handset business’ recovery and some upcoming prospects such as XR and robotics vision. Overall the investors have turned more positive on Sunny’s outlook compared with half a year ago, but we also believe that investors would prefer a bit more visibility on trade deals before turning positive on the market. Maintain BUY. Target price: HK$100.00.

The IT hardware sector registered corrections in share price in the past two weeks as market realised that contribution from the exciting GenAI-driven applications are unlikely to be meaningful in 2025. Nevertheless, the potential cost savings and efficiency boost facilitated by AI are clear and we expect investments into applications development to remain high. Maintain OVERWEIGHT and expect downstream AI applications to remain a key investment focus through 2025.

Sunny Optical has released solid Q4/24 numbers, with revenue and profitability rebounding on the back of strong demand in the company's core markets. The good performance was in line with expectations, given that Sunny had released a positive profit alert and announced a recovery in shipment volumes in February 2025. Cash flows were strong, with material FCF. The balance sheet remains healthy, with a large net cash position. Liquidity stayed sound despite significant short-term debt, with Cash/S...
Sunny’s 2H24 net profit was in line at Rmb1,620m, but the core business was slightly below expectations on a slight miss in revenue and margins. Nevertheless, guidance for the vehicle business is better than expected, and product mix across the board is expected to improve and boost profitability. We believe Sunny’s fundamentals remain intact and are well-positioned to benefit from an upcycle in both the handset and vehicle sectors. Maintain BUY and target price of HK$100.00.

Based on higher sales and margins, we raise our 2025-26 net profit forecasts by 18%/14% to Rmb55,813m/Rmb65,733m respectively, and introduce 2027 net profit forecast of Rmb75,817...
