On Thursday, we hosted the management team from Semrush (SEMR, Not rated) to discuss the evolution of generative AI in Search, including how GOOGL’s AI Overviews are changing the consumer and publisher experience, how advertising strategies are expected to evolve, and how SEMR is helping its clients navigate the new landscape on Google, Bing, social media and elsewhere as generative AI agent/chatbot experiences proliferate.
We rebuilt our search model to break out advertising in AI Overviews (AIOs). With the new format just beginning to roll out to all U.S. users, we conservatively assume no material ad revenue inside AIOs until the beginning of 2025 for now.
