CHTR 1Q26 Quick Take: Weak broadband subscriber and ARPU results; EBITDA fine
Charter’s broadband losses were slightly worse than expected. Investors were probably expecting a beat after Comcast results yesterday, but we cautioned against that. Broadband ARPU growth was also weak. The silver lining was that EBITDA was in line. This said, in line isn’t great as consensus currently expects EBITDA to remain flat for the year compared to management’s goal of it growing y/y. On the call, we expect management will reiterate this point. We expect the stock to sell off a bit here today and give up some of the gains from the last few weeks.Charter Communications is a holding company. Through its subsidiaries, the company is a cable operator and a broadband communications company providing video, Internet and voice services. The company also provides its mobile service to residential customers. In addition, the company sells video and online advertising inventory to local, regional and national advertising customers and communications and managed solutions to enterprise customers. The company also owns and operates regional sports networks and local sports, news and community channels. The company owns and operates a two-way telecommunications network which passes various households and small and medium businesses across United States.
