Barco Innovate for impact: a shift of focus from hardware to software

Barco showed yesterday at a (sell side) analyst meeting its new Meeting Center at its headquarters in Kortrijk. This newest extension to its impressive Experience Center shows how Clickshare can be an answer to the dilemma that the current work experience encompasses many virtual interactions while the physical space remains essential for human connection and collaboration.

Barco gave some overarching technology themes behind Barco's innovation strategy under the title “Innovate for impact” using 5 Technology themes. We saw as main topic ‘a shift of focus from hardware to software'.
Barco is executing on these technology themes. We think that -next to Light Steering- 3 products could hit the market very soon : a Clickshare ‘light' for the wired BYOM segment, Barco CTRL and a bi-directional visual experience screen for Dynamic (3D) visualization in the healthcare segment. All 3 will be discussed in this note.

We also updated our numbers -although Barco was not giving any guidance other than the one after the 3Q23 trading update- as we think we were still a little to optimistic on the recovery (or the speed of recovery) of China, which is of course very important for Barco. As a result we lower our Target Price slightly from € 26.5 to € 25.7, the average of our updated SOTP (€ 25.1) and DCF (€ 26.3) valuation. We reiterate our Buy rating.
