Elia Group Feedback Analyst Conference Call, raw cuts

The conference call took time to repeat the needs for energy transmission. I specifically like that (interim) CEO Catherine stressed that it is not only about the green deal demands, but is also driven by underlying industrial needs. She referred to the EU plans to boost the defence industry spending as a response to the current war. Also the need for energy independence is a key result from the conflict. This again is driven by renewable energy that on its turn depends on transmission investments. The presentation from Arcelor Belgium CEO Manfred Van Vlierberghe made a strong case in point to get offshore energy from the North sea to their Ghent steel plant.
