Mengniu’s Profit Impaired by Yashili and Disposal of Raw Milk Powder; FVE Remains at HKD 12

We maintain our no-moat and stable trend ratings and retain our fair value estimate of HKD 12 per share after China Mengniu Dairy posted a profit warning on Dec. 15. The company will record a substantial loss for 2016, its first net loss since 2008, mainly attributable to (1) a goodwill impairment provision against Yashili; (2) a share of losses from associated companies; and (3) losses from the disposal of raw milk powder.
