Long-Term Collaboration Between Cisco and Springpath Culminates in Acquisition of the Latter
On Aug. 21, Cisco announced its intent to acquire Springpath for $320 million in cash and assumed equity awards. We are not surprised by the announcement, as both firms have been collaborating on hyperconverged infrastructure products for some time. Cisco licensed Springpath software to build its HyperFlex product to compete in the fast-growing hyperconverged market. Moreover, Cisco had already invested in Springpath as it led the 2015 Series C financing round and both firms signed a joint go-to...Cisco Systems designs and sells a range of technologies that power the Internet.
