Duke Reports 2Q Earnings, Enters Key Regulatory Period in North Carolina

We are reaffirming our $86 per share fair value estimate and stable, narrow moat ratings after Duke Energy reported second-quarter operating earnings of $1.01 per share compared with $1.07 in the same year-ago period. Management reaffirmed 2017 earnings guidance of $4.50-$4.70, in line with our forecast. We are reaffirming our 6% annual earnings growth rate from 2017-21, at the top end of management's 4%-6% target.
