Honda Finishes Fiscal 2018 With FX Headwinds and Expects Bigger Ones in Fiscal 2019
We are maintaining our Honda fair value estimate after the company reported fiscal 2018 fourth-quarter results. The dollar/yen exchange rate played a key role in results, as it often does with our Japanese automaker coverage. The average dollar/yen rate for the quarter saw the yen strengthen against the dollar year over year by about 5%, which ate into earnings and also is causing a large headwind in management’s fiscal 2019 guidance.
