A Halloween budget in the UK?

The Labour government in the UK will announce its first Budget in over 14 years on Wednesday 30 October. The Budget will include tax increases to pay for day-to-day spending, but the government may also announce a change to fiscal rules to “allow” for more investment. Whether such a change could spook the markets a day before Halloween remains to be seen. Also, next week the focus will be on the euro area preliminary GDP data for Q3 and flash inflation for October in search for signs of further disinflation. In the US, the labour market report (Non-Farm payrolls) on Friday will be closely watched ahead of the presidential election the week thereafter. )
