A soft landing and then no more cycles?
A soft landing scenario is now envisaged for the United States and the euro zone, as the mechanism s that could trigger a recession are not present. Under this scenario, g rowth would remain equal to potential growth, inflation stable and unemployment stable at the level of structural unemployment. So there would no longer be any cycle s , as growth would remain the same as long-term growth. While it is not very credible that cycles have disappeared for good , it remains to be seen what new mechanism could trigger a recession.
