All euro-zone countries now have domestic agendas
Political discourse in Germany is now dominated by domestic issues (immigration, th e situation of industry); the French government is face d with demands for an increase in purchasing power; the Italian government is only interested in issues concerning the living standards of Italians and immigration; the Spanish government has to respond to the rise of far-right political parties and to the Catal o n ian crisis. If the euro-zone countries essentially have domestic agendas, there will be no progress regarding the European institutions, tax polic y coordination or the implementation of solidarity mechanisms between the countries: one should therefore expect the heterogeneity between the euro-zone countries to continue to increase and tax competition to give rise to chronic fiscal problems.
