An acceleration in the skewing of economies towards services
The OECD and the world have in the past 20 years see n a skewing of their economies towards services, and a decline in the weight of manufacturing industry . We believe that this trend will now accelerate, due to the very global decline in housing investment, purchases of durable goods (cars) and corporate investment, following a period during which this spending was stimulated by expansionary economic policies. The current saturation of needs for housing, corporate capital and cars will therefore speed up the transformation of economies in to service economie s.
