Are there any signs that the economic situation in the United States is deteriorating?

The world is concerned about the worsening political situation in the United States caused by the growing hostility between Republicans and Democrats and the low level of political debate. But should we also be concerned about a deterioration in the United States' structural economic situation? To answer this question, we can look at: The ability to create jobs at different skill level; The determinants of potential growth (investment, productivity, corporate innovation and modernisation effort, labour force, immigration); The quality of the education system; The weight of the technology sector; Macroeconomic imbalances (savings and investment, debt, etc.); Market shares in global trade; The ability to attract savings from the rest of the world; Poverty and inequality. The reassuring points about the economic health of the United States are the ability to create jobs, the upturn in productivity gains and the corporate modernisation; the worrying points are the decline in immigration, the low quality of the education system, the decline in employment in new technologies, macroeconomic imbalances of all types, the decline in market shares, the rise in poverty, and inequality. This list of worrying points is therefore long.
