Are there large OECD countries where the quality of life is better than in France?

The current social tension in France is due to the perception held by many French that their life is difficult and that their standard of living is low. But are there large OECD countries where the quality of life is better than in France? We compare France with the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden and Japan as regards: Per capita income; The employment rate and the quality of jobs; Poverty, low wages; Inequality; The generosity of social welfare; Real estate costs; Unemployment and employability of the young; Youth and labour force skills. This simple comparison sends a message: Overall, France ranks fifth out of ten countries; But it ranks first for low level of poverty and inequality, a high level of low wages and generosity of social welfare; While it is eighth in terms of the employment rate, unemployment and employability of the young and adult skills, and ninth for the quality of jobs. France’s preference for equity and not for efficiency is clear . .
