Base metals outlook, LME week update

Our short- and long-term views on the base metal s complex remain relatively unchanged from earlier this year : A s we had anticipated, a gradual d ecline in most base metal prices is starting to take place and we would expect for this trend to continue into the first quarter of 2022 as consumption continues to normalise after experiencing a period of pent-up demand associated with the easing of pandemic restrictions. However, we are still positive on the long-term prospects of the broader base metals complex . We maintain our view that for certain commodities, t he energy transition will result to a super cycle, which will provide much of the demand impetus in the years to come. We subsequently expect prices to start rising again in the second quarter of next year.
