Can France win the Paris Olympic Games?
Can France win "its" Olympic Games? How many medals for the French team? Since the start of the modern Games, 84% of countries that have hosted at least one edition of the Olympic games have set their record for medals “at home” . Our model predicts 49 medals for France, including 20 in gold (chart 1), compared to 33 medals in Tokyo, including 10 in gold (8 th place) . This performance would be insufficient to win the Olympics but would allow France to enter the Top 5 for the first time since the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
