Collective Resilience

Editorial Failing herd immunity, it is the market that has developed a certain resilience to the bad news on the COVID front: an increase in cases, additional restrictions in several countries, halt to the tests of AstraZeneca’s vaccine, all this without a market disaster. It is also the end of the holiday season for central banks. The ECB reinforced this upbeat mood by revising its macroeconomic forecasts upwards and through its measured stance on the rise of the euro. Next week, the FED could relaunch fluctuations in the EUR/USD if it disappoints, in which case the ECB could change its stance. We will also monitor the BoE and the BoJ on Thursday.
