Did the Federal Reserve yield to Trump?

In early 2019, the Federal Reserve rapidly shifted from wanting to continue to normalise its interest rates to no longer raising or even lowering them. Investors are wondering whether this change of behaviour result ed from: Pressure from Donald Trump on the Federal Reserve; A change in the Federal Reserve’s assessment of the situation of the US economy, in particular due to the decline in inflation despite the return to full employment. Econometric analysis suggests that it is the fall in inflation and not political pressure that explains the Federal Reserve’s change of stance.
