Does good news on growth cause share prices to go up or down?

Good news on growth may have an ambiguous effect on share prices: On the one hand, more growth leads to faster earnings growth, ceteris paribus , which is conducive to a rise in share prices; On the other hand, more growth can bring about a rise in expectations for (central bank and long-term) interest rate s , leading instead to a fall in share prices. In the United States and the euro zone in the past, a rise in expected growth has been associated with a rise in share prices, even though it has also been associated with a rise in interest rates.
