ECB February meeting: watching the data
After the ECB laid out in December the path for its different purchase programs for this year, we don’t expect any change or relevant announcement this Thursday. The discussion in the Governing Council about the inflation outlook is in full swing, with a number of GCs members sounding increasingly more concerned about the upside risks. That said, we t hink that a majority of the GC will stick to the “temporary” narrative, that foresees a decline of inflation back to 2% by the end of this year.
