Europeans are in favour of free trade and have a balanced view of globalisation

It is often claimed that free trade and globalisation are rejected outright in Europe. But the November 2019 Special Eurobarometer survey ( 1) shows that: Europeans are increasingly in favour of free trade; Europeans believe that the positive and negative effects of globalisation balance out. Valid reasons are put forward in both cases, which shows that Europeans in reality are quite mature when it comes to these issue Special Eurobarometer 491, European Commission, November 2019
