France: follow up on the yellow vest movement after today governement’s announcements government annoucements

While a new day of actions is looming Saturday, December 8, the French government announced today new measures in a n attempt to appease the protesters and in order to avoid an extension of the movement to high school students and farmers. It is currently difficult to predict the impact of the Prime Minister's statement. However, it is in our view highly unlikely that a movement, whose mobilization is lower than 300 000 partic i pants could overthrow a government elected by more than 20 million voters in May 2017.
