France: How to improve social mobility?

Social mobility has become very weak in France due to two main causes: an education system that perpetuates social positions, and the disappearance of intermediate jobs. In France, this is resulting in the rejection of elites and inequalities, even though the latter are low. But it will be difficult to correct this situation. First, the education system must become a place of social promotion. Second, new intermediate jobs, which are being destroyed by globalisation and especially by technological progress, must be created. This cannot be decreed. It is not very convincing to attribute the low social mobility to capitalism, if it results from a poorly run education system and technological progress. This does not prevent this association from being made .
