France: The economic difficulties that the next President of the Republic will have to face right away

The next President of the Republic in France will be confronted with very serious economic difficulties when elected: The need to significantly reduce the fiscal deficit, despite the great need for public spending; The difficulty of finding a way to curb the rise in real estate prices, despite the monetary policy remaining expansionary; The major hiring difficulties for companies, which are indicative of low labour force skills and the rejection of arduous or non-standard jobs; The job losses and need for reskilling that will result from the rapid energy transition. The complexity of managing the French economy after the 2022 presidential election should therefore not be underestimated.
