France: What remains of a demand stimulus?

In 2019, France is benefiting from a considerable stimulus of demand (domestic income) thanks to: Faster wage growth; An increase in the fiscal deficit; The fall in oil prices and therefore in inflation. To find out how much of this domestic income stimulus will translate into faster GDP growth, we need to know how much of it will be absorbed by: An increase in savings; An increase in imports. We estimate that 38% of this initial stimulus will remain, which equates to a 0.6 percentage point boost to French GDP in 2019.
