France: Which perceptions are right and which are wrong?

Public opinion in France has a number of perceptions, some of which are consistent with the observed facts, while others are not consistent with these facts. These include the following perceptions: Purchasing power has declined; this is not true, even if we take into account housing and energy; The quality of jobs has deteriorated; this is absolutely true; Inequality has increased; this is true for wealth inequality, but not for income inequality; Immigration has increased; this is true for gross immigration, but not for net immigration; Capital income has grown faster than labour income: this is completely false. Perceptions are therefore most often wrong.
